A List of Possible Pets For Your Child

If you are thinking about pet ownership and have children, make sure they are ready for it. Children adore pets and one must take their age into consideration. You must also decide what kind of pet you would like to have in your home. Here are a few suggestions.

Hermit crabs are usually the favorite among kids. They are relatively easy to maintain and do not require as much care. When they grow bigger they just get a bigger shell and they are good company for the kids. Many hermit crabs can just be left on their own to crawl around.

Hamsters are a little more responsibility for the kids as they need to be fed and given water daily. Their cages also need to be cleaned out at least weekly if not more frequently. Parents also need to know that this is a night time creature.

How Much Does It Cost To Adopt A Dog?

I often hear people asking “How much does it cost to adopt a dog?” and I know they are speaking of the actual cost for the dog. But in reality, the cost of adopting a dog is much higher than what you pay for the dog itself.

Unfortunately, many people do not realize that there are quite a few associated costs to dog ownership and end up not budgeting enough money which leaves them short on some of the dog supplies or veterinary care that is necessary for a healthy pet. Here are 6 things you need to budget for when considering adopting a dog.

1. The Cost Of The Dog Itself

Depending on where you adopt your dog, the costs could be anywhere from to 00 or more. For example, if you answer an ad in the paper or on Craigslist then you will probably get your dog for minimal expense, or even free.

Chicken Soup Dog Food Causes Dog Food Allergies?

When we picked up our eight week old chocolate lab from the breeder, she highly recommended Chicken Soup Dog Food (for the Puppy Lover’s Soul). She said she had done some extensive research and found this food to be one of the best. We quickly found out that it wasn’t available just anywhere, so we had to plan ahead getting this food because we couldn’t get it from any of our local shops.

Our puppy grew up eating Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover’s Soul. At the age of 11 months, we decided it was time to switch him over to Chicken Soup Dog Food for adult dogs. He had been doing great with the puppy food and to the best of our knowledge showed no signs of any problems. If there’s one thing I can say, this dog has energy to spare. Part of that may have to do with the fact that he is a lab, but he seemed very healthy.

Dog Food Recipes – Dog Food Nutrition Using the Right Ingredients

Several years ago there was a major pet food recall that affected thousands of dogs and their owners worldwide. Because of this many of us have considered making our own dog food and have been in search of the best dog food to make our “best friends.”  So in order to make a good dog food recipe, what would be the right ingredients to use in order to have proper dog food nutrition?

If we were to look at any pet food label we would find a list of ingredients listed by weight order with their nutritional properties.  The first item on that list would be the ingredient containing the largest volume.  Though being listed first may not actually represent its actual volume, we find that Beef, chicken, turkey and fish are the first ingredients listed.

Homemade Dog Food

I have been a fan of homemade dog food diets for a long time. With all the news lately of tainted dog and cat food many people are now reconsidering how safe commercial dog and cat foods are for their pets.

It is very easy to get started making homemade dog food. Realize that dogs need to eat the same healthy foods that we need. Quality meats, fresh vegetables, and carbohydrates make up the basics. The portions of meat, vegetable, and carbohydrates should be 40/30/30 respectively.

Dog Food

Many people are nervous to start making meals for their dogs, but it is actually easier than you think. Almost anyone can add some cooked meat, vegetables, and rice or potatoes into a pan.

Start off by picking almost any meat you choose. Turkey is often a good choice for easy digestibility, but almost any meat will do. Other choices of meat include beef, ham, chicken, or pork. Just be sure you thoroughly cook the meat until it is done.

The Collateral Damage of Subprime Mortgage Fiasco – Favorite Pets

Before you foreclose on your property, think about on how to consolidate debt loans. The subprime mortgage foreclosure crisis is hitting hard that even your lovely and favorite pets are not spared. Your favorite dog, cat, horse and other animals may soon end up in your neighborhood shelter. There are reports that big numbers of pets are even found in some foreclosed houses. This is part of the collateral damage brought upon by the devastating subprime mortgage crisis. It is so monstrous in scope that it leaves no one spared. Pure financial devastation.

Some people are finding it very difficult to care for their favorite pets when they move to another place. These people end up giving their beloved pets to their local animal shelter. When they move to these places, it does not allow them to have their pets and care for them. Because of the economic conditions that these people are in at the moment, they have to give up something very dear to them. It is totally brutal seeing these people losing not only their houses and properties but even their pets.

A Cursory Look At Rottweilers On The Fast Lane

Those who are familiar with Rottweilers are well aware of the fact that these dogs are known as working breeds that are bursting with energy. While Rotties may not be as energetic and as active as sheepdogs, their high energy level is indicative of their need for some form of mental and physical stimulation.

Carting is an ideal physical activity that is appropriate for Rottweilers. This is a perfect sport that you and your pet Rottweiler can engage in on a regular basis. In this sport, your pet Rottie shall pull a cart that is loaded with heavy objects, such as firewood and in some instances by people. Your pet Rottie should have a burly body and strong muscles to be able to pull this loaded cart.

What to Expect at Your Dog’s Annual Vet Exam

Even though your dog may be in perfect health, he still needs an annual veterinary exam. It is the key to giving your pet a long, healthy life. The annual exam involves much more than just a routine check-up. Early warning signs of serious problems are often discovered during these exams. When detected early, many of these problems can be prevented or delayed.

Most vets do what is called a “Nose to Tail” exam. They begin by examining your dog's nose, and continue examining all the way to the tail.

Nose

Your dog's nose is checked for nasal discharge which can indicate a cold or Rhinitis; a symptom of a number of possible diseases including respiratory infection and Canine Distemper.

How to Choose the Best Dog Food For Your New Puppy

Selecting the best food for your new puppy may seem a daunting task. Every puppy starts off with the best food possible, mother's milk. This means that your new puppy comes to you with the best dietary system they will have in their entire life. As the owner of a new puppy you will want to make sure you support that system. This provides a general guide for identifying the best foods for your new puppy.

Things to stay away from would be the semi-moist and the canned dog foods. Most often these include significant amounts of salt, sugar and often water, while providing very little health benefits. While providing little to your puppy to grow from, the softer food may also lead to gum disease and other dental concerns. Once weaned a new puppy should be transitioned onto a dried kibble. The kibble should be at least 28% protein, to help the puppy grow strong and healthy. A puppy kibble is designed to help the dental health of puppies as well. So with your new puppy you are looking forward to selecting a puppy kibble where the top three ingredients include a protein. This will provide the appropriate portions and be easily identified.
