Birdwatching is one of the more popular hobbies in the country. One reason is that we are so familiar with birds. They are virtually observable everywhere. But we know them more as passing acquaintances than as actual friends. As many homeowners have discovered, one way to get to know them much better is to invite them into our gardens.
One of the easiest ways of doing this is by setting up homes for them and providing food. When you place bird feeders in your garden, you will not only attract birds to your garden by giving them easy access to food, but you also help many of them to survive a harsh winter when it can be extremely difficult for them to scrounge up food as their normal food sources disappear.

Tips on hunting dog training
Bird hunting seems to be a popular hunting sport for dogs and handlers. Hunting dog training is a lengthy, time consuming process which at the end is very worth it! You have to be completely dedicated and willing to put in a great deal of time to get the desired effects.
There are three essential commands when teaching your dog to hunt. The commands are “whoa”, “come” and “heel”. Handlers believe that “whoa” is the most important of all three and is crucial when hunting birds. Your dog needs to understand that when you say “whoa”, you need your dog to stop completely in its tracks, no matter where it is or what it is doing. This command is not only helpful in hunting but can also save your dog’s life in other situations such as traffic!

Building birdhouses is an excellent hobby that combines your ornithological interests with your skills in woodcrafts. You can make wooden birdhouses that help many different species of wild and domestic birds to nest and breed.
Many birdhouses are wooden but some are a mixture of wood and concrete.
Most birdhouses are cuboids with a sloping roof. Some have a special hinged top to make it easier to clean them when the occupants fly away. Some breeders also find those openings convenient to feed the young ones.
Boxes with open fronts or a hole at the front are very popular. Often, bird lovers create fancy birdhouses, some of them even resembling a human house or multi-storey apartments.
You can make birdhouses with gourds. Milk cartons are a simple and recyclable object that you could use for building your birdhouse. Some bird-watchers love to design highly detailed birdhouses and they make them from of the best possible materials.

If you own a pet bird you may already know the importance of having a bird cage cover. Putting a cage cover over your bird is a sign that it’s time for bed. It lets them know to be quiet for the night and it helps in keeping them on a set schedule. Another good thing about a bird cage cover is how it will also keep them from singing away at 4:30 in the morning. Birds tend to wake up a little earlier than I do.
There are some important points to keep in mind when using bird cage cover:
- While you can put something like a pillow case over your bird cage, you would be better off getting a cage cover that is made for your cage.
- Don’t use a bird cage cover to punish your favorite parrot or cockatiel. Doing so can actually lead to its in effectiveness at night.

While you will find all types of bird cages made from everything from plastic to bamboo, the most important aspect will always be having the right size of cage for your pet bird. Here are some tips to help in selecting the best bird cage.
1. Where will you keep the bird cage?
Knowing where you will be keeping the cage in your home will help in knowing how big it should be. You shouldn’t keep it in direct sunlight throughout the day or right next to an ac/heating vent.
