So you gave yourself the gift of a new puppy or someone else gave it to you. Unfortunately, this little bundle of joy doesn't understand the specific places designated for going to the bathroom. So what do you do? How do you housebreak your new pet?
Housebreaking really isn't all that difficult. As with all, dog training it will take consistency and patience but the hardest part will actually be training you and the rest of your family.
Before you start any training, you always want to be certain your pet is healthy. There is nothing worse then continually disciplining your puppy for going in the house and then finding out they have a kidney or bladder dysfunction.

Selecting the best food for your new puppy may seem a daunting task. Every puppy starts off with the best food possible, mother's milk. This means that your new puppy comes to you with the best dietary system they will have in their entire life. As the owner of a new puppy you will want to make sure you support that system. This provides a general guide for identifying the best foods for your new puppy.
Things to stay away from would be the semi-moist and the canned dog foods. Most often these include significant amounts of salt, sugar and often water, while providing very little health benefits. While providing little to your puppy to grow from, the softer food may also lead to gum disease and other dental concerns. Once weaned a new puppy should be transitioned onto a dried kibble. The kibble should be at least 28% protein, to help the puppy grow strong and healthy. A puppy kibble is designed to help the dental health of puppies as well. So with your new puppy you are looking forward to selecting a puppy kibble where the top three ingredients include a protein. This will provide the appropriate portions and be easily identified.

Ticks are not insects like fleas, but arachnids like mites, spiders, and scorpions. A tick has a one piece body, harpoon like barbs around its mouth to attach to a host for feeding, crablike legs and a sticky secretion to help hold itself to the host. The United States has about 200 tick species whose habitats include woods, beach grass, lawns, forests, and even in some urban areas.
They have a four stage life cycle, egg, larvae, nymphs, and adult. Depending on its species, a tick may take less than a year or up to several years to go through its four stage life cycle. Adult females of some species lay about 100 eggs at a time. Others lay 3,000 to 6,000 eggs per batch.
Ticks can carry various infectious organisms that can transmit diseases to cats and dogs as well as humans. The four primary diseases and their symptoms are:

Ear infections are a fairly common ailment for most dogs — the problem is, you might not realize that there is a problem until its a painful problem for your dog.
Detection
Do you see your dog shaking it's head a little too often? Does your dog rub it's ears with it's paws, on the carpet, on the furniture, on your leg? Does your dog love it a little too much when you scratch it ears? These are all possible signs of an ear infection.
Did your dog used to love getting it's ears scratched but now shies away from you when you reach for it's ears? That's a sure sign of an ear infection.
Here are two other signs of this particular trouble: You see what looks like dirt in your dogs ears and wonder what its been up to. Your dog has an unusually bad smell — even shortly after a bath.

Are you the kind of person who stands in awe at parties and family reunions, watching other's people pets sit and heel when there are told to do so? If you answered yes, then it wouldn't hurt to spend some quality training time with your dog. The most influential stage in a dog's development are the first years that he spends as a puppy. This is the best time, if any, to train your dog. As your dog ages he will grow accustomed to his lazy ways and become very stubborn. He will be less receptive and inclined not to listen or accept any “new” ways of doing things. Furthermore, keep in mind that in order to figure out the real age of your dog you must use the seven principle. Take your dogs age and multiply it by seven to get the human equivalent. Hence a dog that is five years old, in human terms he is really thirty five. A thirty five year old is far less likely to listen to anyone than a five year old.
