It's one of those truisms that we tend to take for granted: cats and dogs fight like, well, cats and dogs. Everybody knows that cats and dogs don't get along. Don't they? Isn't it true? Well, maybe not. New research is casting doubt on this age-old stereotype about two of our best friends.
According to researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel, it's perfectly possible for cats and dogs to get along in the same home. Researchers interviewed some 200 people who owned both cats and dogs for their study. Surprisingly, they found that two-thirds of the respondents in the study reported that their cats and dogs got along fine and were friends.
One-fourth of the respondents reported that their pets were indifferent to each other. And, in 10 percent of the homes, the cats and dogs actively disliked each other. Aggression and fighting were reported in these homes.

You've been going to the gym everyday and working your butt off. You drink protein shakes, eat loads of chicken, and see some muscle gain. Your happy. Then you notice the new guy at gym is getting big real fast. He only started 3 months ago and he's putting on size like there's no tomorrow. What the???
Obviously he's on roids and your starting to wonder whether you should chuck in the towel or jump on the train. It's tempting. Why work so hard when you're only going to see mediocre results compared to the other guy.
Steroids obviously work, but are they worth it? And are they guaranteed?
The Technical Mumbo Jumbo:
Hundreds of distinct steroids have been identified in plant, animals, and fungi. The steroids associated with muscle growth are called anabolic steroids.

If you believe the old stories about much weight people put on during the holidays, you're right-partially. In a recent study conducted by The National Institute of Health, the researchers discovered that, in reality, most people tend to only put on just slightly under one pound. But a person who is already overweight will average a whopping five pounds extra after the last horns have been blown.
But it's not all good news for even those who put on the minimum because the study also shows that we all tend to keep the pounds put on. In other words, over ten years, those not-so-much pounds, could lead someone to being overweight.
So, what can we do in order to keep those extra pounds off? After all, our homes are usually filled with holiday pies, cakes and other goodies, and they can be pretty tempting-even for the most faithful of dieters!

Keeping a bird cage clean and hygienic is an important element of keeping a bird. Before you purchase a bird cage, inspect as many bird cages as you can find and choose one that has a removable tray that can be pulled out easily to remove bird droppings. This is to ensure that the bird cage can be easily cleaned and maintained. Such a set-up is ideal as it will not disturb the bird when you are clearing away the droppings. If you are building your own cage from bird cage plans, make sure it has this feature too.
Although the tray does not come into contact with the bird, keeping it clean and free from bird droppings is essential. A good and effective way to do this is to line the tray with a piece of paper for easy disposal. Lining it also enables you, the bird owner, to examine the bird droppings for clues of the bird's current state of health. Any change in color in the droppings is an indication that you should immediately send the bird to the vet. The tray lining should be changed daily so that you can monitor the change in color on a daily basis.

The relatively new practice of feeding garlic to horses in an attempt to help with respiratory health has come under fire in recent months. Because garlic has strong antibacterial aspects, some horse owners are hopeful that it is a miracle cure for many horse ailments. There are many in the horse world with doubts about the product, though. A line has been drawn in the proverbial sand as some see it as effective, while others call the herb a toxic horse killer.
For horses that come down with respiratory illness, garlic has shown to be an effective remedy. It is used in a simple way. Horses ingest the herb and after a few days, they get better. The debate about garlic seems to exist over the long term effects. No one debates the fact that garlic is an effective short term remedy, but is the quick fix really the best fix? Could the horse contract a more serious illness later in life because of the garlic? These are questions that scientists are looking to answer.
