Dog food aggression, or Canine Possession Aggression,is one of the more serious dog behavior problems and needs to be dealt with quickly once your dog shows the signs. Basically, your dog is trying to assert it's status as the alpha dog, and you just can't let this happen.
It doesn't make sense that your dog would consider you a threat, but you are not only threatening his food, but his alpha dog status. If your dog is growling, snarling, barking, nipping at you, or anything else that can be considered aggressive behavior, you are going to have to get a handle on it rightnow.
It seems really cute when your new puppy is growling over a toy or her food, but this could be the start of Canine Possession Aggression, and could lead to a case of dog food aggression.

Are you the kind of person who stands in awe at parties and family reunions, watching other's people pets sit and heel when there are told to do so? If you answered yes, then it wouldn't hurt to spend some quality training time with your dog. The most influential stage in a dog's development are the first years that he spends as a puppy. This is the best time, if any, to train your dog. As your dog ages he will grow accustomed to his lazy ways and become very stubborn. He will be less receptive and inclined not to listen or accept any “new” ways of doing things. Furthermore, keep in mind that in order to figure out the real age of your dog you must use the seven principle. Take your dogs age and multiply it by seven to get the human equivalent. Hence a dog that is five years old, in human terms he is really thirty five. A thirty five year old is far less likely to listen to anyone than a five year old.

What are the different types of dog aggression?
Dogs can possess many different types of aggression, but this article will focus on the main two types. It is important to recognize which type your dog has, since they come from different causes and thus have different methods of treatment.
1. Aggression directed at strangers
What is it?
This type is fairly simple to recognize. Your dog may act nervous around strangers or new people in the house. Your dog may also be on constant alert, meaning they can't lie quietly, pace around or bark or whine at the smallest sound. On the other hand your dog may be the other extreme and remains completely still, not moving at all, and starring intently at the person they feel aggression for.

Every dog owner knows that the first lesson for your new puppy is not to go in the house! There are bound to be a few accidents, even if you find yourself taking your new pup out to the yard every twenty minutes. Dachshunds are an extremely intelligent breed, and thus can be very stubborn and unwilling to learn. If they find a place they like to go potty, they sure don't want to be stopped from going potty there!
Housebreaking a Dachshund can be a tedious process, but with a little persistence and a bunch of treats, you will eventually succeed. Keep in mind that potty training can be a long process, and rewards must be frequent - because of this, it is important to buy healthy treats, or even to work with your dog's dry kibble (or a chunk of wet food) in lieu of large, unhealthy dog biscuits.
