Reward training is a good, incentive-based training method that can be used on all dogs; however, it can be especially useful on smaller breeds who are too little to use more insensitive types of training, such as the choke collar method.

We have all heard commands like “down, Spot” and “down, Princess” with desperation in the guardian’s voice to stop the dog from jumping on the door and people. Trying to communicate with a determined dog to prevent jumping is often an act of futility. Perhaps, even YOU have given the command to little or no avail. How you stop the dog from jumping is a universal problem, but having a better understanding of what is motivating the canine’s behavior can go a long way toward addressing it.

By Gray Rollins
The term hunting dog is applied to any dog that is able to assist a human in the act of hunting. There are several different types of breeds of dogs that are quite useful as hunting dogs and each has a particularly unique and useful talented that is used during hunting.
